2012-2015

– Research, Applied Design, Toolkit, Dissertation, Design Theory.

A master program between L’Ecole de Design Nantes Atlantique and Fine Arts College of Shanghai University focus on three core aspects: Anthropology, Design in a Chinese context and a multicultural approach.

During this program my main focus was understanding how people experience death in this particular context. I discovered the taboos related to this topic and how demographics, economical explosions, one child-policies and interconnectivity will become a major challenge for China and the world as a whole.

I created a design methodology and a toolkit to help designers tackle disparities in diverse cultural contexts. Applying this methodology allowed me to create a series of emotional healing objects for palliative care patients.

All the thinking behind was written as dissertation called “Infinite: Creation and destruction in a transcultural context”.

The project was conceived in 2013, this month China just announced the end of the one-child policy.
